For most people arriving in Greenland, the first stop will be Kangerlussuaq. Being the major hub for international flights, Kangerlussuaq Airport connects people from all over the world to all parts of Greenland. With it's ideal placement far from the shore and dry air, Kangerlussuaq is known for it's great weather conditions. While being viewed as mainly as transit destination, most people spending their time here discovers Kangerlussuaq to be truly an untouched treasure. Situated no more than 10 minutes flight time away from the ice cap to the east, arctic deserts to the west, and home to hundreds of musk oxes, Kangerlussuaq is the perfect place to start your adventure.

Kangerlussuaq is home to various forms of wildlife, the most dominant and famous to the area being the musk ox. The musk oxes are numerous and mainly roam just south of the city. Originating from north east Greenland, 27 musk oxes was transported to the west coast proving to be very prosperous to the species, providing excellent feeding and breeding grounds, bringing the total population up towards 3.000. Usually walking in hurdles of 3-6 musk oxes, they are easily spotted the from air. We fly in the lowest permissible altitude throughout most of the flight, giving you the best possible view. 

Besides the musk oxes you also have a chance of spotting reindeer. The reindeer tends to be harder to spot, being smaller than the musk ox and usually walking on their own, but the pilot has a sharp set of eyes and will always point out, once the different types of wildlife can be seen.

Paradise Valley, nestled far behind one of the deepest fjords, this landscape was part of the rich hunting grounds the Inuits used as larders back in the 15th and 16th centuries. During a millennia of hunting, Paradise Valley has been an important part the rich Greenlandic hunting traditions and cultural landscape. The Inuits were drawn to the area from far and wide, coming to pursue reindeer and other wildlife, while the Europeans came along later on in the 17th century mainly for the quest for whales in the area between Sisimiut and the southern coast of Disko Island. Paradise Valley also became a base for trading of prey and hunting accessories between the Europeans and the local Inuit hunters. 

Paradise Valley is a must see and has become our most beloved tour out of our Kangerlussuaq base, for its shear beauty and rich historical meaning. Flying through the deep valley and staying below the top of the mountains on the side, we take you through the twist and turns instructed by the valley itself. Passing along vigorous waterfalls and rock slides to the side, we start the journey from the narrow entrance to the valley and move towards the inland ice where we witness how the valley broadens up.
